The Edwards County School District is conducting a preschool roundup for children ages birth to five years old not yet enrolled in public schools and who will not be kindergarten eligible in the fall.
The Illinois State Board of Education recently announced that they have released additional funding. Therefore, there is a possibility the Pre-Kindergarten Program will be reinstated in the Edwards County School District for the 2019-2020 school year. The screening is required if you are interested in your child attending Edwards County School’s Pre-Kindergarten Class in the fall.
The screening consists of evaluating each child’s progress in hearing, vision, speech, language and coordination skills. The screening will take approximately 45 minutes and appointments are required. This will give parents a better idea of how their child is progressing at this very young age before he/she begins school. This screening program is free and parents will receive immediate feedback on how their child is developing.
For students who live in the West Salem area, the screening will be held Tuesday, April 2 at the Moravian Church in West Salem from 8:30-10:45 a.m. Please call 618-456-8881 to set up an appointment.
For students who live in the Albion attendance area, the screening will be held Tuesday, April 2 from 12:15-2:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albion. Please call 618-456-8881 to set up an appointment.
Remember, the service is a free check of your child’s progress in the developmental areas, but appointments are necessary.
