Edwards County became the 99th county in the state of Illinois to register a positive case of Novel Coronavirus on Tuesday.

And the number of cases for the county quickly climbed to two.

The Edwards County Coronavirus case count jumped from zero to two Tuesday afternoon, after the Edwards County Health Office released a statement informing the public of the positive cases.

“The Edwards County Health Office was notified on May 12, 2020 of two residents who tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19),” said Belinda Moore, RN and Administrator of the Edwards County Health Office, in a released statement. “These are the first laboratory-confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Edwards County.”
