The Grayville Police Department made a DUI arrest of a Washington state man early last week.

Justin A. Pepperworth, 55, of Everson, Wash. was taken into custody on Sept. 30 at roughly 5:15 p.m., after a GPD officer responded to a vehicle accident near Casey’s General Store in Grayville. A breath sample collected and tested following his arrest showed a blood alcohol level of .253.

Upon arriving on the scene of the accident, the officer spoke with Kassandra Linnemann, who explained that she had been struck by Pepperworth while the latter was attempting to park his vehicle. When interviewing Pepperworth, the officer immediately detected the odor of alcohol on Pepperworth’s breath, as well as other signs that he might be under the influence of alcohol.

After failing a field sobriety test, a preliminary breath sample given on-scene showed a BAC of .129. The .253 BAC result was from a sample given at the White County Jail.

Pepperworth was arrested for driving under the influence and DUI with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more. He was transported to the White County Jail.
