Still high and dry in Grayville

At 2 p.m. Tuesday workmen with Wiggs Construction now say they do not know for sure when water will be restored to Grayville. “Everything that could go wrong has,” he said.

The City issued a boil order this morning for all water customers. When service is restored all water to be used for drinking should be brought to a boil for at least five minutes before use. A city notice issued this morning apologizes for the inconvenience.

Grayville Schools have been cancelled for the rest of the day and students have been sent home.

Meadowbrook Administrator Mike Cunningham said that facility could go 72 hours without water before they would have problems.

Surprisingly Super 8 Motel reports they have had water since 9:30 a.m.

Grayville Mayor Travis Thompson was on the scene Tuesday afternoon with water superintendent Cody Lynn. He said, “We ran into problems naturally. I really don’t know why yet, other than our water lines are not mapped out as they should be. We are on the hunt to find out why water is coming into the old line right now. There are plans in the works. We will have water tonight. I’d be very surprised if we didn’t.”
