Marilyn Kay Bess, 67, of Bone Gap, Ill., passed from this life to the next on Sept. 7, 2019, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Ill.
She was born Jan. 30, 1952 in Quinter, Kan., the daughter of Velvyn (Lahman) and Russell Jarboe. She married Douglas Ray Bess on Dec. 30, 1972 in Quinter, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2010.
Marilyn was a CNA at Rest Haven Manor in Albion before retiring. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing cards and going to yard sales. She collected snow globes, cookie jars and Coca-Cola and M&M’s memorabilia. Her greatest joy was her kids and grandkids!
She is survived by two daughters: Michelle (Steve) Edmundson and Suzanne (Justin) Simmons, both of Bone Gap; two sisters: Deb (Curtis) Simon of Quinter, Kan., and Lori (Alan) Moore of Hays, Kan.; and four grandchildren: Aidan Waggoner, Austin Wise, Ashlyn Wise and Jacob Simmons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sister Suzanne Jarboe.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Ill. The funeral service will be held at noon at the funeral home with burial to follow at Bone Gap Cemetery.
