Carroll Moore, 94, of Albion

94-year old Albion resident, Carroll Moore left this world on Saturday, April 25 and walked into the arms of his beautiful wife of 57 years to celebrate eternity.

Carroll was born Dec. 28, 1925 in Edwards County to Grover and Pearl (Sawyer) Moore. He was a 1944 graduate of Albion High School. Carroll joined the Marines and was stationed in California. Following his tour of duty, he returned home where he met his future wife, Berniece Rodgers. They wed on Oct. 18, 1947. Two daughters were born to this union, Cheryl Ray in 1948 and Teresa Lynn in 1956.

Carroll was a jack of many trades and could fix anything. He worked in the oil fields as a rough neck and was a great carpenter. He helped build local bridges and area homes. In his words, “I was never out of work.” After retiring, you could find him working in the yard, planning a camping trip or preparing for winter by cutting up wood.

Left to remember Carroll include one daughter, Teresa Lynn Morris of Albion; two granddaughters, Amanda (Chad) Compton of Albion and Courtney (Steve) Duvall of Grayville; four great-grandchildren, Justus Tionna, Raelynn Marie, Shaleigh Ann and Kaidan Matthew. Preceding Carroll in death were his parents; wife, Berniece and daughter, Cheryl Ray.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 29 at Graceland Cemetery in Albion. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.nalesfuneralhome.com. Nale’s Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of the arrangements.
