It was a truly explosive third inning that propelled the Albion Grade School Lions so far ahead of Norris City that they could never hope to catch up.
The Albion boys drove in 17 runs in the third, part of a 25–6 victory over the hometown Cardinals early last week. Prior to that decisive frame, the Lions trailed Norris City 4–3.
Cash Conner paced the AGS bats with a triple, three stolen bases and six RBIs on a 3–4 day in the batter’s box. Jex Schnepper accounted for three RBIs and a stolen bag, while Jax Duncan netted two RBIs and two stolen bases on the afternoon. Drew Roosevelt had three stolen bases and two RBIs in the win.
Jaron Weaver finished the day with one RBI and one stolen base, with Drew Seibert stealing two bags against the Cardinals. Jackson Hensley netted two RBIs, while Dylan Prather, Wyatt Collins, Cy Nelson, Rylan Nix, Aydan Wang, Drew Lankford and Caden Hart all had one RBI apiece to their names.
Schnepper opened the game at the mound for the Lions, throwing for one and one-third innings. He allowed four runs on three hits and one walk, striking out one as well. Duncan came into the game to pitch one inning of relief, striking out two and walking two.
Seibert threw for two-thirds of an inning, striking out one Cardinal batter. Weaver closed out the contest with one inning of work, allowing two runs on two hits. He also had two strikeouts on the day.
