Edwards County Volleyball fell to Mount Carmel on Thursday, handing the Lady Lions an 0–2 start to the 2019 season.
The Golden Aces were able to ambush the ECHS girls in game one at Linda Oxby Gymnasium, jumping to a one-set lead after blindsiding the Lions 14–25 to start the match. Edwards County was able to bounce back to make game two a battle, but the Wabash County unit was able narrowly withstand the Lion comeback effort, thanks to a 25–27 margin to close out the match.
Senior Audrey Rotramel led the Lion attack, netting six kills on the evening. Classmate Darcy Clodfelter set up the ECHS offense with 10 assists to compliment her one ace and one dig.
Lexie Hill, a sophomore for the Lions, made three blocks to help the Edwards County cause, also nabbing four kills, an ace and a dig along the way. Juniors Meredith Gillard and Alli Goering each tallied three kills, with fellow third-year player Amaya Lashbrook amassing six assists and a dig.
Ellie Marks put up two kills and an ace on the night, while Hannah Taylor made a block. Senior Caelyn Nelson recorded two digs and an assist.
Senior Rachel Perkins and sophomore Ava Greathouse each contributed two digs in the loss as well.
