After getting off to an 0–3 start against a touch schedule, the Edwards County Volleyball squad found themselves in the win column for the first time this season against Johnston City Thursday night.
The Lions were able to take down the Black Diamond Conference opponent in straight sets; 25–11, 25–20.
Senior Darcy Clodfelter made an astounding 18 assists in the victory, also managing four digs and three aces on the evening. Junior Meredith Gillard had a standout evening at the net, making a team-high eight kills and one block, as well as three digs.
Caelyn Nelson made nine digs to lead the team in the category, also putting up three aces. Alli Goering recorded six kills and two digs in the win, while Amaya Lashbrook registered seven assists, two digs and one ace. Audrey Rotramel added four kills and two digs to the Lion tally, with Ellie Marks netting four digs and two kills against the Indians.
Hannah Taylor gave the ECHS squad three kills, with Lexie Hill putting up five digs and two kills.
Senior Rachel Perkins contributed five digs in the victory as well.
In junior varsity action, the Lions took down the Indians in two games by margins of 25–20, 25–15.
