Jenna Schnepper and Isabel Shepherd scored 18 points apiece in a tough loss to Eldorado Saturday afternoon.

The Edwards County Girls Basketball squad hosted the Eagles in Black Diamond Conference action over the weekend, losing the home game by eight points. The Lady Lions dropped the matchup, 57–49.

In a tight opening frame, The Lions came out slightly ahead, 7–6, as the two teams geared up for the second quarter.  Eldorado would go on to outscore the ECHS girls 20–11 before the half, however, putting Edwards County in a 26–18 hole with only one half of play remaining.

The Lady Lions struggled to build momentum in the third period, falling behind 42–24 heading into the final frame.

Schnepper drilled four three-pointers for the Lions, while all of Shepherd’s points came from inside the arc. Interior player Mollie Hedrick put up seven points in the defeat, while Carissa Jefferson, Lexi McKinney and Tara Michels each contributed two points on the night.
