Both the JV and varsity Edwards County Panthers Basketball team were perfect during a unique 2021 spring season.

The junior high basketball girls of Edwards County finished their regular season in Mount Carmel Monday evening, with both the junior varsity and varsity squads earning victories to end their respective seasons at 13–0, with 10–0 marks in conference play. The JV team bested the Golden Aces by a 32–29 margin, while the varsity trampled the Mount Carmel girls, 48–11.

Grace Bishop led the varsity Panthers with 15 points and nine rebounds. Emmy Goering manage a double-double in the victory with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Carlin St. Ledger had two points and a team-best 12 rebounds.

Alice Robb put up 10 points against the Golden Aces. Lola Nussmeyer had seven points to her name, with Allison Groff and Olivia Rigg each accounting for two points in the win.

The IESA is not allowing a postseason for junior high girls basketball this season, making Monday’s victory the final game of the year for the Edwards County Panthers. In celebration of their perfect season, the Panthers were welcomed back to Albion with an escort from the Albion Fire Department Monday night.
