Despite giving it all they had, the Edwards County Lions fell to the Fairfield Mules, 68–23, Friday night.

In the Black Diamond Conference road game, the Lions fell behind early due to the fast-paced Mules offense. By halftime, the score was 40–14 in favor of the Wayne County unit.

The deficit proved too great, as the Mules outshot the Lions 73.05 percent to 42.86 percent from the floor.

Sophomore Kaden Cowling led all Lion scorers with 10 points. He went 4–6 from the stripe and had one steal.

Senior Jordon Brock had four points, one assist and one steal. Junior Ty Schmittler also had four points, went 1–2 from the free throw line and pulled down two rebounds.

Rounding out the scoring was seniors Camden Cowger with two points, four rebounds and two assists and Andrew Rotramel with two points, three rebounds and three assists.
