Tyler Mulvany, manager from Oil Belt Christian Service Camp in Flora, reported that they will be canceling all weeks of camp this summer due to the continuing restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic. A note from Tyler: "many alternatives were discussed, but the current guidelines do not allow for an environment that is kid friendly." They will, however, have their camp merchandise for sale at the Little Prairie Christian Church on June 24 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for anyone wishing to purchase shirts, hats, stuffed animals, sunglasses, and other Oil Belt Swag.
In 2021, Oil Belt Christian Service Camp will be celebrating its 75th anniversary. To honor this event, they are publishing an updated camp cookbook, and are seeking recipes from the kitchen volunteers over the years. Recipe forms will be available on the welcome center when church resumes, and a basket will be available to collect the completed forms. You may also submit memories, and a form for that will also be available on the welcome center.
Plastic lids are still being collected to make a bench and table in memory of Matt Brands. Monetary donations will also be accepted to help with this project.
