This Saturday at 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., come out to the Linda Oxby Gymnasium at Edwards County High School in Albion to see the Purdue University Purduettes in concert. The doors will open at 3:30 p.m. This free concert will feature Purdue University senior Abbi Rivers, who graduated from ECHS in 2016.
“It would make me so happy for everyone from my hometown to see what I have been doing for the last four years. Our group works so diligently to put on a great show and I promise you won’t be disappointed!”
The Purduettes are a premier female vocal ensemble from Purdue Musical Organizations, highlighting the considerable musical talents of more than 60 vocalists through full ensemble selections as well as small group and solo presentations. The Purduettes also celebrate music of all genres with a vast repertoire.
Directed by Jeff Vallier, the Purduettes provide energetic and quality entertainment suitable for audiences of all ages and backgrounds, all the while connecting the university to alumni, friends and communities worldwide.
Rivers is a first alto with the Purduettes, and holds the honor of Gold of Advancement in the Purduette Gold; the leadership, service and scholarship honorary hierarchy.
Purdue University is public research university located in West Lafayette, Ind. founded in 1869. In 1942, the Purduettes were founded. Over the past 75 years, they have inspired audiences around the globe. The ensemble has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Costa Rica and will travel to Italy later this year. While in Italy, the Purduettes will have the opportunity to perform during mass at Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
Rivers, majoring in Accounting and Finance at Pursue University, is ecstatic to be performing in her hometown. “My family, fellow Purduettes and I would love to see you all there.”
