The Albion Area Chamber of Commerce called attention to a fundraiser being put on by the Friends of the Edwards County Historical Society during the chamber’s quarterly meeting Thursday afternoon.

The Friends of the Edwards County Historical Society is a newly formed organization dedicated to raising funds for the betterment of the historical society and the Albion Public Library, according to Chamber Secretary Averi Goodman. The group’s first targeted project is to help fund repairs needed at the Washington Painter House in Albion, which is owned by the historical society.

The first fundraiser in that endeavor will be a Mother’s Day Tea hosted at the Painter house the Saturday before Mother’s Day, May 9. There will be three tea times for the event, which will take place at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Thoma Smith will be heading the event.
