Country Home Processing opened its doors for the first time in late March, just as coronavirus was gaining a foothold in the United States. But new owners weren’t going to let a virus stop them.

Previously known as Farmers’ Packing, the newly christened Country Home Processing has been a staple in Edwards County for the past 13 years. In February, the Bodnar, Kelsey and Vallette families purchased and revitalized the business.

They spent several weeks to complete all needed upgrades and remodeling throughout the plant, as well as securing the proper licensure and hiring staff. They ensured the entire plant and storefront were in inspection order and would meet the needs of the community.

Though it has been the toughest of times to open, Country Home Processing has big plans to offer residents all the same amenities-and then some-that they have come to rely on over the years, such as custom processing of cattle, hog and deer, as well as a stocked meat case and freezer items. Currently, they also offer Aly’s Jams and Jellies for purchase in their storefront.
