Rebecca Joyce Valdez, 64, of Grayville, Ill., died Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Ind. She was born March 10, 1955, in Fairfield, Ill., the daughter of James and Joyce (Clark) Lingafelter. She married Bernard J. “Chuck” Valdez on May 21, 1983, and he survives.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Some of her favorite pastimes were reading, flower gardening, crocheting and collecting antiques. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed cooking for her friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard J. “Chuck” Valdez of Grayville; brother Jim (Karen) Lingafelter of Longview, Texas; sister Kimberly (Bill) Riley of Spring Creek, Nevada; son John (Christy) Rankin of Saline, Mich.; grandchildren Charles, Katherine, Victoria “Tori”, Erin, Weston and Faren; three aunts; one uncle; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Jennifer Rankin; and grandson Jacob Rankin.
In keeping with her wishes, Rebecca’s remains were cremated and a service will be at a later date.
Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville is in charge of arrangements.
