The Edwards County Girls Basketball team gave a valiant effort, but didn’t come away with a victory after visiting rival Fairfield Thursday night.

The Lady Lions crossed into Wayne County on Thursday, dropping the game to the Mules, 58–35.

Things remained tight between the two teams in the opening stanza, with Fairfield assuming a 12–8 advantage by the end of the quarter. The Lions saw that gap widen in the second period, as they trailed 25–13 at the half. By the end of the third frame, the Lions found themselves on the wrong side of a 42–24 deficit.

Jenna Schnepper and Isabel Shepherd each came away with 12 points on the evening, making three and two three-point field goals, respectively. Senior Caelyn Nelson netted eight points, while Tara Michels finished with three.
