James Harlan “Jim” Hill of the Grab Community of Green County, son of the late Starley Hill and Mildred Hill, was born on Saturday, Aug. 13, 1938 in Lockhart, Texas and went to his heavenly home on Friday, March 13 after a brief illness. He was 81 years and 7 months of age.

He professed faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Green County. Jim was a farmer, and was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marion Yvonne Davis Hazel Hill on May 17, 2013, having united in marriage on Feb. 14, 1961. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Gene Hill.

Survivors include his children, Marti Hazel Baker and Paul Baker of Louisville, Ky. And Nick and Mary Jo Hazel of Campbellsville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Matthew Hazel and his wife, Ashley; Justin Hazel and his fiancé, Taylor and Carlie Hazel, all of Campbellsville, Ky.; a brother, Starley “Deke” Hill, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services for James Harlan “Jim” Hill were held on Mar. 18 at the Cowherd and Parrot Funeral Home, the burial followed at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Brothers Larry Wisdom and Clifton Sullivan officiated. Pallbearers were Matthew Hazel, Justin Hazel, David Hodges, Daryl Rogers, Ricky Thompson and William “Fats” Coffey.
