It was a back and forth affair in Norris City early last week.

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the Albion Grade School Lady Lions made the trek to White County to take on a talented Norris City squad. The Cardinals jumped to a big advantage in the first inning, but the Lions were able to stay within striking distance throughout the afternoon.

Norris City would fend off the rallying girls from Albion, however, as the AGS unit fell on the road by a 12–11 margin.

Allison Groff manned the circle for all six innings on behalf of the Lady Lions, giving up 12 runs, only seven of which were earned, on seven hits and 10 walks. Groff also had five strikeouts to her name.

At the plate, Grace Bishop hit a home run as part of a two RBI outing. Avery Sweeny had three RBIs, four steals and a pair of doubles on a 3–3 effort in the batter’s box. Lilly Jones managed a double and four steals as well, while Kyndal Richards, Emmy Goering and Groff all netted an RBI each. Alice Robb stole four bags on the day as well.

Jaycee Kolb made two steals in the loss, while Olivia Rigg had one.
