After 13 consecutive years of winning Regional Championships, the Edwards County Lions were unseated in a hard fought loss to Woodlawn Thursday night.

Hosting the Regional, Woodlawn established themselves as a Midland Trail Conference power throughout the 2019 season. The Lady Lions battled for two sets, but fell short of their 14th straight Regional Crown; 18–25, 26–28.

Leading the Lady Lions in kills was junior Meredith Gillard with nine, also accounting for three aces and a dig. Lexie Hill managed a team-best five blocks to compliment her one kill and one dig.

Audrey Rotramel put up four kills along with two digs for the ECHS girls, while fellow senior Caelyn Nelson managed 16 digs and an ace. Classmate Darcy Clodfelter netted nine assists to lead the team in the category, as well as five digs and an ace.

Senior Rachel Perkins had eight digs and an ace to her name.

Amaya Lashbrook recorded eight assists and four digs, with Alli Goering registering three aces and two blocks on the night. Ellie Marks produced two kills and a block, while Hannah Taylor had three blocks and a kill.

Sophomore Ava Greathouse netted four digs in the loss.
