A slow start proved too much to overcome for the Grayville Junior High School Basketball squad against Flora last week in the Jasper Shootout.

The Junior Bison trailed by 15 points at halftime, but battled back in the second half. The Wolves were able to fend off the stampede, however, handing Grayville a 53–42 Monday night loss.

The GJHS unit fell behind early, trailing Flora 14–8 after the opening frame. The second stanza saw that deficit expand, as Grayville found themselves outscored 16–7 in the second stanza.

At the half, the Bison were in a 30–15 hole.

The Bison offense found new life in the second half, putting up 27 points in the final two periods. Flora was able to hold on, though, managing 23 points in that same span to relegate the Grayville assault.

Kanaan Worley paced the Bison with 14 points, though Tyzae Rowland was close behind with 13 of his own. Ayden Funkhouser added five points to the Bison cause, while Zach Leavens netted four.

Kade Stockton, Canyon Neeley and Dante Sussen all had two points each on the night.
