Judith Elaine “Judy” Lofton, 78, of Ellery

Judith Elaine “Judy” Lofton, age 78, of Ellery, passed from this life to the next on Saturday, Aug. 22 unexpectedly at her home.

Judy was born on June 25, 1942 in Olney to Dante and Mildred (Gill) Saxe.

She attended Lockyear Business College and Colburns Beauty Academy. After becoming a licensed cosmetologist, she owned and operated the Cinderella Beauty Shoppe in Albion. Later, Judy was a secretary at Henderson Tire and Retreading, Inc. as well as DiKor Oil Company in Carmi. She was also a beautician at Rest Haven Manor in Albion. Judy was an active member of the Wesleyan Church in Fairfield where she played the piano for many years.

On June 20, 1969, she married the love of her life, Iley “Bud” Lofton and they enjoyed over 50 years together until Buds’ passing on Feb. 17 of this year.

Devoted wife, mother, grandmother and God-loving woman perfectly describes Judy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a brother, Donnie Saxe.

She leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories to her daughters, Lisa (Ben) Shilling of Noble and Julie (Larry) McIntosh of Princeton, Ky. and grandchildren, Elijah Gaines and Rachel Shilling.

A Graveside Service to commemorate the life of Judy Lofton wa held on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at the Graceland Cemetery in Albion.
